Dr. Amjad for promoting greater harmony among provinces
By Ali Imran

ISLAMABAD—Caretaker Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr. Mohammad Amjad on Thursday said that there was a dire need to promote greater harmony among the federating units following the tragic death of PPP Chairperson Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on December 27.
He stated this while talking to Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz Khan, Minister for Human Rights Ansar Burney and Minister for Health Ijaz Rahim here.
Dr. Amjad said that the country was passing through a critical juncture and some anti-state elements were propagating against the federation and creating hatred among the federating units.
The Minister said that he would soon visit Sindh and other provinces and make direct contacts with the leadership and common people there to remove their reservations.
He said that the government would fulfil its obligation of maintaining peace and tranquility under all circumstances. He said creation of conducive atmosphere for continuation of peaceful activities was in the larger interest of the nation. Peace and harmony in the society, he added, would help to cope with the challenges confronting the country.
The Minister said that tragic death of Benazir Bhutto was a national loss and had saddened everybody including those in the government.
The public reaction to this immense tragedy, he said, was natural but the country needed to face this grief with courage and fortitude so that those responsible for this heinous crime did not get away with their misdeed.
Minister for Interior Hamid Nawaz said that while the government was committed to dealing sternly with those responsible for the act of violence in which Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and many others lost their lives, it was also imperative to maintain unity, peace and solidarity within the country.
Minister for Health Ijaz Rahim on the occasion said that the government would provide free medical treatment to all those who were injured in the violence which broke out soon after the death of Benazir Bhutto.
