Delay in elections conducive for polity: Tariq

ISLAMABAD—The former state minister for Information and broadcasting, Tariq Azeem has stressed on all political parties to consent to the delay (rescheduling) in elections.
While talking to newsmen he said that all political parties were well aware of and comprehend the volatile situation of Country in the wake of death of Benazir Bhutto, and hoped that they (polity) would agree to the implemented delay in elections. Elaborating the delay of Election commission, he said that in view of recently perpetuated acts of looting, arson and violence, offices and other related materiel of election commission has been damaged considerably, and it was impossible to reassemble all that was destroyed in a short time as 08th Jan 2008.
He opined that it would be mush prudent and conducive for all polity to accept the rescheduling of elections, which he hoped would be equally conducive for voters’ turnout, benefiting political parties. He also ruled out the fears and reservations of foreign observers, about not being able to monitor the elections in the aftermath of death of Benazir Bhutto, and assured them that all would be peaceful in a week’s time.
Replying to a question, he termed the gruesome murder of Benazir Bhutto as loss of the entire Nation, who was quite grieved at her death, and stressed that the motives and probe of the murder should be investigated and culprits brought to book.
