Japan to support Al-Shifa Trust to eradicate blindness

RAWALPINDI—The government of Japan has expressed its interest to expand its cooperation with Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital to eradicate blindness in the country.
This was expressed by the Japanese diplomat during a visit to Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital Rawalpindi. Diplomats of 12 countries visited the hospital to witness available facilities including Japan, France, Belgium, Iran, China, Brunei and South Korea.
President of Al-Shifa Trust, LT Gen ® Jahan Dad Khan informed the guests that over dozen projects are in hand at Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital which need urgent financial support.
The projects include construction of hospitals in Muzaffarabad and Quetta, expansion of Sukkur and Kohat activities, development of Al-Shifa research institute and development of Tele-Ophthalmology in Rawalpindi hospital.
He thanked the Government of Japan and France for their previous support.
The ambassador of Iran also suggested mutual cooperation for doctors’ training. The diplomat from Belgium offered Al-Shifa to help in organizing fund raising for Al-Shifa.
The diplomats also visited different departments of the hospital and received briefing about activities of respective departments.
