Quetta Express escapes disaster

MURIDKEY—Jan 02 (Online): The Lahore-bound Quetta Express coming from Rawalpindi narrowly escaped disaster near Muridkey Railway Station on Wednesday.
According to details, some boys who were playing cricket near the track informed the Signal Man, when he was giving the green signal at 11am about the broken Railway Line and opening of the bolts.
The Signal Man after getting the information regarding the damaged Railway Line gave the Red Signal and stopped the train thus averting any major mishap.
Inspector Masood Iqbal with Railway Officials reached on the spot after one hour of the incident and reviewed the broken lines. Rejecting the possibility of extremism, he said that the Railway Line was broken due to the severe cold weather.
According to the Railway Officials, the train could have met a severe accident due to its fast speed if it had not been stopped. The Railway Officials has started laying down new Railway Line on the broken part of the track. The Signal Man after getting the information regarding the damaged Railway Line gave the Red Signal and stopped the train thus averting any major mishap.
The Quetta Express, however, has been sent to its destination by crossing the track with the slow speed.—Agencies
