Ten recognized slums in Capital being rehabilitated

ISLAMABAD—Ten recognized Katchi Abadies with a total of 3805 housing units in the Federal Capital are being rehabilitated with the application of three concepts of urban renewal.
According to a Capital Development Authority (CDA) under the plan some Katchi Abadies would be upgraded at their present sites in existing form.These include Katchi Abadies in G-7/1,G-7/2,G-7/3 and F-7/4 having a total of 1299 housing units.The bonafide dwellers of these slums are being issued application forms for award of proprietary rights.
Out of 1299 heads of housing units, 782 have received application forms and 509 have submitted application forms with down payment.
After scrutiny of application forms and completion of formalities, “Proprietary rights” will be awarded and physical infrastructure will be provided i.e. door to door water supply connection, protection measures along the nulla sides, sanitary and sewerage system as per site position, and pavement of existing street network.
SNGPL and IESCO will provide service connections to the eligible dwellers of these slums as per CDA’s list.
Under the relocation of Katchi Abadies, slum dwellers of Muslim Colony,Haq Bahu,Dhok Najju and Essa Nagri having a total of 1631 housing units would be shifted to MUSP Farash Islamabad. These Abadies have been allocated 1231 plots in MUSP Farash, Islamabad.
The scheme of MUSP Farash has been planned in three pockets which is spread over an area of 165 acres consisting 4000 plots measuring 3 marlas each.
After completion of formalities, “Proprietary rights” will be awarded. So far CDA has spent an amount of Rs. 20.820 Million on the provision of construction of roads and streets, Drainage/Sanitary system and Water supply through community hand pumps. Now PC-I for provision of door to door water supply connection and sewerage system is in process.
