have no qualms against Bilawal
NAUDERO—Chairperson PPP Shaheed Bhutto Group Ghinwa Bhutto on Monday
underlined that we have no objection whatsoever of 19-year old Bilawal
Bhutto becoming Chairman PPP.
While talking to a private TV, Chairperson PPP Shaheed Bhutto Group
Ghinwa Bhutto said that the decision to elect Bilawal as Chairman of PPP
was taken by his father Asif Ali Zardari.
We have had political differences with Bhutto family but in this hour of
crisis we don’t want to indulge ourselves in more chaos, she maintained.
She further added that we are deeply grieved over the death of Benazir
Bhutto.
Sanam Bhutto, the younger sister of slain Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto
has endorsed all the decisions, including appointment of Bilawal Bhutto
Zardari as new PPP chairman.
In a statement issued here on Monday, Sanam Bhutto said she believed
that the resolution of the issue of leadership in accordance with the
will of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed had not merely saved the party from a
leadership crisis but would also strengthen it in future.
“ In this moment of intense grief, with tears still in my eyes, I want
to state clearly that I am proud of my sister’s wisdom, and feel
honoured to be part of her decisions. Even in my personal life, I have
respected and accepted the advice she gave me . To me she was like a
father”, she maintained.
“ I endorse the decisions taken by the PPP on December 30 in accordance
with the will of my sister. I have never been in active politics, but
like all of you, I have always behind my sister’s every political
decision”, she added.
Senator Asif Ali Zardari, Co-Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party has
condemned the arrests of thousands of PPP workers across the country and
their inhuman torture in police stations and unofficial torture cells
and demanded their immediate release. In a statement Monday he said that
continued torture and victimization of already traumatized Party workers
was brought with grave dangers.
The PPP Co-Chairman said that while the Party is going into elections
despite being in a state of shock to save the federation. However, the
undemocratic forces have started hunting down the workers of PPP to
create chaos to run away from elections. The Party will not let the
regime seen away from polls, he said.
Asif Ali Zardari also demanded immediate release of all the arrested
Party workers. He asked the regime to find out the arsonists and looters
as the Party workers never indulge in such activities and mourned the
martyrdom of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed in peaceful manner.
The Party Co-Chairman also directed district Presidents of the Party to
forward to Naudero House the names of all Party workers arrested and
tortured by the security agencies.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has constituted a three-member
committee to draft a resolution to be sent to the United Nations
demanding setting up of an expert commission to probe into the
Assassination of former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto.
The PPP sources told Online that the three members of the committee are
Senator Latif Khoso, former Federal Minister, Begum Abida Hussein, and
Ms Bhutto’s legal advisor, Senator Farooq H Naik.
The committee will complete the draft of the resolution within a day or
two, which will later be sent to UN, the sources said and added that the
resolution will demand of the UN to constitute a team of international
experts to investigate into the assassination of Ms Bhutto in line with
the probe into murder of the slain Lebanese Premier Rafiq Al-Hariri.—Agencies
