PPP vows to resist putting off polls

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Peoples Party rejects any delay in January 8 elections, a party official said Monday after government and electoral officials said the vote would be postponed. “We are ready for elections and do not want any delay. LAHORE—Opposition leader Nawaz Sharif said Monday that Pakistan’s parliamentary elections should be held Jan. 8 as scheduled despite the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
