India resumes train service

NEW DELHI—India decided on Sunday to resume service of Samjhauta Express, which was suspended a couple of days ago citing “security reasons” in view of developments in Pakistan and also assured to extend visas of Pakistani nationals stranded at n Jodhpur station.
The Indian Railway official said “the service of trans-national Samjhauta Express is being resumed from today.” This decision was taken after consultation with Railway officials of Pakistan, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs.
Earlier, Indian Railways has announced the cancellation with immediate effect until further notice of 4001/4002 Delhi-Attari Link Express, 4607/4608 Samjhauta Express, 405/406 Munabao-Zero Point-Munabao Thar Express and 4889/4890 Jodhpur-Munabao-Jodhpur Link Express. The bus service between Delhi and Lahore was also suspended.—Agencies
