Police confirm Bhutto was shot before bombing

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Benazir Bhutto was shot in the neck by her attacker before he blew himself up in a suicide attack Thursday outside a campaign rally, police officials confirmed.

She succumbed to her injuries in hospital but it was not immediately known
if it was the gunshot wound that killed her.

"The attacker fired and then blew himself up," said one of the officials, who asked not to be named.
