Eminent artists display innovative ideas
By Saad Ahmed

ISLAMABAD—The display of exclusive art works based on innovative ideas by Meher Afroz and Mussarat Mirza continues at Nomad Art Gallery.
Ideal compositions in bold strokes and mixed-media by Meher, portray certain concepts and behaviors of people using symbolism. With experience of more than 35 years, Meher draws her philosophy of worldview titled “Dastavaiz” through chronicles of her time in India and Pakistan. She has also used poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, with colours and symbols reflecting various messages and concepts of understanding human natures.
While Mussarat Mirza has displayed her recent works with the medium of oil on canvas featuring exquisite images in dull colours including ochers, yellows, brown and greys.
The prolific and enlightened painter characterizes the mystical journey of man’s spiritual ascent through mind with abstract images of bright lines of light as floating prayers, windows and doors as dreams, shadowy lanes and other expressions.
Her paintings titled Jidhar Dekhun Tu, Teri Janib, Hoo, Tu Hai Har Su, Dasht-e-Tanhayi and Tu Hi Tu are based on the spiritual concepts featuring atmospheric scenes of deserts.
“The exhibition aims at promoting peace and harmony in the Capital with a focus on spiritual practice through the displayed images with a vibrant collection of colours,” says Nageen Hyat, Director of Nomad Art Gallery. The exhibition will continue till December 30.
