Nawaz says won’t sit silent till reinstatement of judges

PATOKI—Former Prime Minister and Quaid Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has made it clear he will not sit silent till reinstatement of judges including deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, adding that, he will not accept Pervez Musharraf as constitutional President.
After coming into power, his government would restore deposed Judges by maintaining the status of judiciary as it was on November 2, 2007, he said this while addressing the Public gathering at Hala Chowk, Patoki on Sunday.
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he had made no deal with President Pervez Musharraf that allowed him to return to homeland after seven years in exile. He said his Party is against those Generals who violate the constitutions.
“My hands are clean”. “I have no case of corruption but had allegations with related to hijack Plane of Musharraf”, he said, adding that, he made the country nuclear power despite growing pressure from international community.
The former Premier said, independent judiciary and free media was a must for vibrant democracy in the country and the PML (N) with this end in view, has decided to participate in the polls.
The PML (N) Chief accused the previous government for tragic Jamia Hafsa episode which claimed hundred of lives, killing of people during visit of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to Karachi on May 12 and the unrest in some settled districts of the frontier province.
He said, such incidents do occur in the country when there was no democratically elected government, therefore, he maintained that it is high time to pull the country out of the quagmire before it was too late. He also impressed upon the moderate forces to join hands against the enemies of democracy.
He said the Previous Government did nothing for the welfare of masses and advised the citizens of the country to reject PML-Q in the elections. Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressed the confidence that the PML (N) would sweep the elections around the country due to its previous track record and ‘Q’ league would vanish in the days to come
On the occasion, the youngsters chanted slogans “Qadam Barhao Nawaz Sharif Hum Tumharay Sath Hay” (Step forward Mian Shahab we are with u). He held responsible previous Government and caretaker Government for atta shortage in the country, inflation, lawlessness, unemployment, and lack of medical facilities in hospital, poverty and starvation.
Joining hands with Party President District Kasur Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan, he appreciated his courage and patience to face cruel activates of rivals during last five years. The name of Rana Phool Muhammad Khan late will be remembered always, he pointed out.
“There is no sewerage system in Patoki. The roads and streets are in dilapidated condition. The previous government failed to redress the problems being faced by the citizens”, he lamented.
Seeing towards the Police Personnel deputed for security reasons, the former Prime Minister asked them not to ensure implementation on unconstitutional directives of the President. He declared in unequivocal terms that if voted to power in the 2008 elections, his government would provide employment opportunities to youngsters and justice to all.
He thanked citizens of Patoki for remembering him despite seven years of exile and accorded warm welcome to him. Rana Ishaq Khan and others Party leaders accorded warm welcome to Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on his arrival Shogaz bypass at 12:00 noon. Great firework was also displayed when the caravan comprised on more than 100 vehicles arrived in Patoki.—Online
