ISLAMABAD—Caretaker Minister for Tourism and Youth Affairs Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif Friday assured level playing field to all candidates contesting the elections and resolution of their genuine complaints. “Political parties should pinpoint anomalies if any, caretaker government will definitely rectify their genuine complaints,” he told newsmen.
The government is committed to ensuring transparent and credible elections. Numerous monitors are pouring into the country from USA and European Union to observe the election process, he said.
To a question, he said media should be totally free, as it is imperative for development of country. However, there must be self-regulatory mechanism for preserving the national interest.
He said, constitution would be restored fully from December 16. Currently only some articles of constitution dealing with fundamental rights have been suspended to cope with extra ordinary situation. Regarding validation of emergency from next assemblies he said, emergency act already enjoys legal cover provided by previous assemblies and Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The need is to put the emergency act into the ambit of the constitution. A constitutional package consisting of some ordinances issued from Nov 3 to December 15 would be presented before the assembly for validation, he added.
