Twin suicide attacks kill 10 in Quetta

QUETTA—The death toll rises to 10 in two suicide attacks took place near military check post at Katch Morr here in cantonment area on Thursday. According to government sources, a man executed a suicide attack near a security forces check post at 4:50 PM, killing two troops and wounding several others. As more security forces personnel of other posts and people reached the site of the attack, another attack took place with a gap of about seven minutes. This resulted in the killing of five more persons on spot including security forces personnel and citizens while fourteen persons were injured.
The injured, four of them critically, were shifted to CMH, sources said. The initial investigations reveal that the two suicide attackers came on foot. The security personnel cordoned the area of attacks and initiated the investigation. Some sources said the number of deaths has crossed ten. Atleast nine persons Thursday were killed and 11 others wounded in two suicide bombs attacks at the Check post of Security Forces in Cant area of Quetta. According to Private media reports, first bomb blast went off near a checkpoint situated in Khach Morr, close to a military area on the outskirts of the city.
As a result several security officials were killed and nine other injured. After some time, when some civilian vehicles gathered at the spot, another suicide bomber blew himself up, which resulted in more causalities and injuries. Soon after the suicide attack security forces sealed off the entire area. Director General Inter Services Public Relations, Major General Waheed Arshid while confirming the incident said that nine persons including three security officials have been killed in the two suicide attacks.
All the injured have been shifted to hospital. Both the suicide attacks occured at common Shahrah, however, it fall in the jurisdiction of cant area. The said check post was constructed one year back due to the security reasons and it was located at end of cant area. Meanwhile, after the suicide attacks, security has been put on high alert.
Five security personnel embraced Shahadat in two suicide attacks in Quetta on Thursday. An ISPR official talking to reporters, said that two suicide attackers were also killed in the attack. He said that 22 people including 13 civilians and nine security officials also injured in the incident.
At least eight people including three security personnel were killed and 18 others were injured in an attack on a security picket at Kach Morr, Quetta, ISPR official. The attacks were suicide and the picket was attacked from two sides. One security personnel and one civilian died on the spot. Two security men and four civilians succumbed to injuries in the CMH. Most of the victims are civilian who often gather there for picnic. A large number of personnel of law enforcing agencies cordoned off the location and only the entry of concerned officials is allowed.
Security Forces arrested ten suspects and recovered huge amount of ammunitions from their possession. According to details, in different search operations, security forces recovered six Klashinkoves, half Kg explosive material, bullets from the possession of ten suspects form the area of Sangseela and Dera Bugti.
