ICP, Edwards enter UoP Inter-College Tennis C’ship final

PESHAWAR—Islamia College and Edwards College took berth into the final of the Inter-College Boys Tennis Championship being played under the aegis of University of Peshawar Sports Directorate on Thursday.
Former national tennis player and coach Salim Khan was the chief guest on this occasion witnessed the semi-finals. Players, female and male students of the University were also present.
In the first semi-final Islamia College got walk over against Government College Peshawar as it did not turn up for the semi-finals while Edwards College defeated Post Graduate team of the University of Peshawar in a thrilling match.
Despite confirmation of its participation, the GC team failed to reach for the semi-final, Director Sports University of Peshawar Bahre Karam informed APP when contacted.
Both Edwards College and PG team gave each tough fight in the best of five sets battle. In the first singles Jazaib Khan of Edwards College beat Umar Javed by 7-5 (6-6) and 6-4 but in the second singles Zain of PG shocked Karam of Edwards College by 6-3 and 6-3.
It was in the doubles when Kamran and Jazaib of Edwards College defeated Umair Khan and Zain by 4-6, 7-6 and 6-3. Losing the first set, PG team gave tough resistances to Edwards College pair by stretching to tie-break but later on Edwardians controlled the whole trend by winning the match 2-1.—Agencies
