Population ministry launches family planning handbook
ISLAMABAD—The Ministry of Population Welfare Thursday launched manual of
“National Standards for Family Planning Services and Family Planning
Handbook” for service providers to educate the masses about family
planning.
These manuals are the third revised edition and have been developed by
the Ministry with support of Technical Assistance Management Agency
(TAMA) keeping in view the future role and responsibilities of trainers
and service providers. It focuses on addressing reproductive health
issues in local socio-cultural scenario. Through these manuals, minimum
standards for family planning service provision have been defined with
special reference to the latest developments in the fields of
contraceptive technology and World Health Organization’s Medical
Eligibility Criteria for client selection. It will prove useful for the
trainers as well as for the service providers working both in the public
and private sectors. Caretaker Minister for Population Welfare Dr A. J.
Khan was the chief guest on the occasion, while senior officials of the
ministry and representatives from NGOs were also present.—APP
