Immense prospects in renewable energy in Pakistan highlighted at Int’l
Forum
BEIJING—The Former President
of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and
patron In-Chief of Pak-China Business Forum Tariq Sayeed has said that
there were vast opportunities available in Pakistan for the Chinese
investors in area of renewable energy.
Addressing at the inaugural session of the 2nd China New Energy
International Summit Forum, in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province on Wednesday Tariq
Sayeed said that Pakistan’s economy is growing at the rate of over 7
percent for the last couple of years and due to industrialization surged
across the country, we are facing shortage of power thus working on
various projects to meet the shortfall.
He pointed out that the country while paying attention towards
generating hydal power also concentrating on wind, solar and other means
of renewable energy as these natural resources are also environment
friendly.
Tariq Sayeed who was one of the keynote speakers at the Forum said that
time has come to reinforce Sino-Pak traditional friendship with a strong
and vibrant economic partnership.
During his address he gave an overview of the Pakistan Energy Scenario
and immense potential for Renewable Energy.
He gave the Chinese companies the wind and solar data in details on
Pakistan and explained to them the special incentives that Pakistan
offers for investment for the Chinese enterprises.
Earlier, the International Forum was inaugurated by Dr. Li Hejun,
Chairman of China New Energy Chamber of Commerce and was also addressed
by leaders of the Wuxi Municipal Government, the Vice Director of the
National Development and Reform Commission and delegates of various
Energy and Environment agencies.
The forum was organized by Dr. Shi Zhengrong in collaboration with All
China Federation of Industry and Commerce and the China New Energy
Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Shi, a keynote speaker along with Tariq Sayeed who was also declared
Hero of the Environment by Time Magazine, spoke about Global Warming and
emphasised the need for carrying out further collective efforts by all
countries to promote Renewable Energy.—APP |
