Lakha to confer awards on teachers, students tomorrow

ISLAMABAD—At least thirty five outstanding teacher and student across Pakistan would receive the Presidential Awards on Thursday in recognition of their academic distinction and outstanding performance in various categories.
The ceremony to distribute these awards will be held in the National Library Auditorium on December 13 at 1000 hours. Prominent educationalists, recipients of the awards, media persons and other dignitaries would attend the ceremony.
Spokesperson on the Education Ministry said, the Federal Minister of Educational, Science and Technology, Dr Shamsh Kassim-Lakha would confer these awards on behalf of the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
It is pertinent to note that these awards were announced on August 14 this year and carry cash grant, medal and a certificate duly signed by the President. The initiative of conferring these Presidential Awards had been taken by President Pervez Musharraf to encourage individuals to bring excellence in education sector of the country.
The most prestigious awards of Izaz-I-Fazeelat having Rs cash price of Rs 25,000 have been selected from the four provinces, AJK, FATA or FANA on the basis of their meritorious performance in brining improvement in curricular and extra curricular activities, promotion of female education in rural areas and other related activities.
