NIH directed to focus on research work

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Health Ejaz Rahim has directed National Institute of Health (NIH) to promote research activities to attain international standard in the medical field.
He was addressing the meeting held here to review progress and targets achieved by the NIH. The Minister said all available funds will be utilized to improve service delivery system in the health sector. He appreciated the efforts being made for the completion of key health projects and taking public health measures by the institute. He directed the Executive Director, NIH Maj. Gen.(Retd) Anwar Masood to follow vision 2030 defining the key areas of development in health sector including public health research, vaccine development, human resource developments, disease control and response, food monitoring and safety.
The Minister advised that such strategy should be adopted which is more beneficial for poor and deserving people of the country in consultation with concerned stakeholders. He said international partners are supporting the government in health sector and sought more assistance to further improving the health facilities. He assured that all technical matters of the institute will be resolved.—APP
