By Our Defence Correspondent

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan on Tuesday successfully test fired indigenously developed Cruise Missile Hatf-VII (Babur) with a 700 kilometers range. According to an ISPR press release, the missile test is part of a continuous process to validate the design parameters set for this weapon system. Babur, which has near stealth capabilities, is a low flying, terrain hugging missile with high maneuverability, pinpoint accuracy and radar avoidance features.
The test was witnessed by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Tariq Majid, senior military officers, scientists and engineers of strategic organizations. The test will help consolidate country’s strategic capability and strengthen national security. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid, who was the chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the scientists and engineers on their success.
He particularly touched upon the issue whereby insinuations have been made by some vested and hostile elements in the international media regarding the security of Pakistan’s nuclear assets. Also, suggestions have been made that our assets could either be neutralized or taken away towards safer place to prevent them from falling into wrong hands.
