Benazir cleared for elections
Bureau Report

KARACHI—Election Tribunal headed by Mr Justice Nadeem Azhar Siddiqui and Mr Justice Rana M Shamim on Monday rejected two identical appeals against the acceptance of nomination papers of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.
One of the appeals was filed by a candidate of PML (Q) Babu Ghulam Sarwar contesting from NA-204 Larkana on the grounds that the former premier and her husband were wanted in money laundering and other cases while the Accountability Court Rawalpindi had convicted both of them in a corruption case.
Another PML (Q) candidate from NA-207 Rattodero Saifullah Abro had cited the similar grounds in his appeal against the acceptance of nomination papers of Benazir Bhutto, saying that the nomination papers of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif have been rejected on the similar grounds.
Chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party Ms. Benazir Bhutto is likely to arrive here on Tuesday, party sources said. She left for Dubai on December 7 to see her children and ailing mother residing there.
After her arrival on December 11, she will proceed to Mardan where she will address a public meeting. On December 12 she will visit Nowshera to address the meeting of Pakistan People’s Party. Before start of election campaign in the country, Benazir Bhutto has started visits of all the main cities to mobilize the public and workers of the party for the upcoming polls.
