PCA distributes IT awards-2007

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Computer Association (PCA) organized an Information Technology Appreciation Awards-2007 here at a local hotel to acknowledge services of various individuals and companies for the promotion of Information Technology in the country.
Secretary Revenue Division and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Abdullah Yusuf was the chief guest on the occasion, while besides PCA officials, the ceremony was attended by representatives of a number of IT companies from across the country.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman FBR stressed the need for exploring IT potential to the maximum level, which he said could only be achieved by improving efficiency, transparency and good governance.
He said IT was responsible for bringing huge revolution in the world and there was an urgent need that Pakistan should go ahead with other countries of the world in this respect.
He expressed the hope that in the IT field soon Pakistan would be with the developed world. "We are in the process of improving and fast catching the world in IT field," he remarked.
Abdullah Yusuf said that his organization had already introduced e-governance system including the e-filing of returns to facilitate the tax- payers and enhance the revenues.
He lauded the PCA efforts for the promotion of IT sector and trying to pool all resources in this regard in a productive way.
President PCA Islamabad chapter Munawar Iqbal and President Lahore chapter Ibrahim Qureshi on the occasion highlighted the purpose and achievements of the association.
They said PCA was established with an aim to solves issues of vendors and companies related to information technology. They said the PCA would hold such programmes every year to encourage those individuals and IT companies, who would stand first in the line.
Later, Chairman FBR distributed awards among the individuals and different IT companies who rendered meritorious services in the field.
