Pedestrians bridges heaven for encroachers

RAWALPINDI—The overhead pedestrians bridges constructed to facilitate the pedestrians have become heaven for encroachers and beggars and creating immense inconvenience especially to women and children.
According to a survey conducted by Online, the pedestrian bridges have been constructed on points witnessing heavy flow of traffic and create problems for pedestrians to cross the roads but being using by vendors.
Ahmad Sheeraz Saeed, a Government employee while talking to this agency said that he use Faizabad bridge almost daily but sometime specially in rush hours consume more time due to occupation of enough space by vendors.
Muhammad Umar, a student of class 10th said that the occupation of the space of overhead bridges by vendors, the main objective behind the construction of these pedestrians have gone into background. In rainy season, the accumulated water near the stairs of the bridges also causing made to cross the bridge a huge task, he added.—Online
