‘Solidarity conference to be convened to forge harmony’

ISLAMABAD—Care taker government for provincial coordination Dr Muhammad Amjid said no political party should call into question the role of care taker government in holding fair and transparent elections adding the care taker government was and would remain fully neutral.
He said this while talking to Online here Sunday. He denied that any caretaker minister was involved in electioneering. If relative of any caretaker minister was participating in the general elections, we could not stop him from doing so, he observed. As far as caretaker government is concerned, it is performing its obligations diligently, he added. He pointed out some political parties were demanding extension in election date adding this demand would not be accepted at any cost. As envisaged in the constitution, it was mandatory election should be held within 60 days of completion of assemblies term. 60 days are completed on January, 15, he said adding it is therefore, not proper to suspend electoral process. He ruled out construction of new water reservoirs without developing consensus among the provinces. Construction of water reservoirs has become inevitable to meet the growing demand of electricity, he stressed. National solidarity conference would be held by the end of this month to forge harmony among the provinces, he told.—APP
