By Asghar Ali Mubarak

ISLAMABAD—Acting Chairman Senate Friday underlined the need for introducing such security systems in the Parliament House that are based on latest trends in the weaponry and defence systems and integrated with the existing security systems.
The Senate House Committee met here Friday under the Presidentship of Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali, Acting Chairman Senate.
The Committee made this observation while having a briefing/presentation by Extreme Defence Systems (XDS) regarding their proposals for the introduction of integrated security systems in the Parliament building.
Acting Chairman Senate, Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali stated that unfortunately Parliament is a high profile target of terrorists these days and the basic idea behind this briefing was to give the Members an insight into the latest trends in security.
He said that controlling the suicide bombers is not an easy task but protective measures must be taken. "This is something that we all need in the current scenario", observed the Acting Chairman.
He said that the security system should be cost effective, user-friendly as well as reflective of state of the art technology. Training of master trainers was a pre-requisite to the introduction of any system, he observed.
The House Committee decided to constitute a Sub-Committee headed by Senator Naeem Hussain Chattha. It would comprise experts from Ministry of Interior, CDA and other related departments.
It was suggested that the Sub-Committee may have a complete demonstration of various security solutions offered by different firms and put up its proposals/recommendations to the Committee at the earliest. The House Committee suggested that the Sub-Committee must take into account to what extent the proposed security system could be integrated into the existing one.
Earlier, the representatives of the Extreme Defence Systems gave a presentation on integrated security management system for the Parliament House. The meeting was attended, besides the Acting Chairman, Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali by Senator Naeem Hussain Chattha, Secretary Senate, Raja Mohammad Amin and senior functionaries of the Ministry of Interior, Islamabad Capital Police and CDA.
