NAB establishes Fraud & Anti Corruption Hotline

Islamabad—The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the eve of
International Anti-Corruption Day has established a 'Fraud and Anti
Corruption Hotline at HQ NAB Islamabad and its regional offices situated
in Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Quetta and Karachi.
The establishment of the Hotline 111-NAB-NAB or 111-622-622 is aimed at
facilitating direct contact by general public to lodge complaints of
corruption and corrupt practices. The hotline will be operational from
9th December 2007. NAB complaint officers will receive complaints from
9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. during all working days from Monday to Friday.
NAB has assured the complainants that their identity will be kept
confidential. An IT based complaint management system is also being put
into operation. Complainants have been advised to use area code relating
to city where the concerned NAB office is located e.g if a corruption
case from Faisalabad is to be reported then the complainant will dial
042 before the UAN Number as NAB Punjab located at Lahore will be
dealing with the case.
The complainants can report corruption of public office holders who have
misused office for personal gains. A handsome amount (up to Rs. One
million) will be given to the informers if prosecutable evidence of
corruption is provided against NAB officials. Some other important areas
of reporting include corruption in award of government contracts,
heating public at large, fake housing societies, fraudulent forex
companies, fraudulent business and loan ventures, stealing and misuse of
public property, demanding of bribe, kickbacks, etc. NAB also cautions
public to refrain from lodging fake and frivolous complaints, which are
punishable offence, under the National Accountability Ordinance. |
