DCO High School Dir clinches PCB Inter-School Cricket title

PESHAWAR—DCO High School Dir Upper clinched the title after shocking Alama Iqbal Model School Dir in the PCB Inter-School Cricket Tournament Regional final played at Dir Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
DCO High School won the toss and invited Dir Upper and Chitral School Zone leader AIM High School to bat first. While batting first AIMS set up 163 runs for the loss of all wickets after playing 34.2 overs of the allotted 35 overs.
AIMS two openers Yasir and Shahabuddin were gone in the first two overs spell of right-arm medium fast bowlers Asif and Shahab took the wickets in their respective overs. It was the no. 3 and no.4 batsmen Waqar and Asif who rescued their team by added some valuable score to the total.
Waqar hammered 63 runs off 56 balls with nine boundaries while Muhammad Asif struck 32 runs off 42 balls with five boundaries. Besides them Aman (17) and Adil (14) were the leading runs takers.
For DCO High School Asif claimed three wickets for 23 runs, Shahab took two for 19 runs while Yasir Khan, Saeed and Waqar took one wicket each. In reply, DCO High School chased the target for the loss of seven wickets after playing 32.5 overs. Opener Yasir struck 32 runs off 41 balls with four boundaries, Akhtar Zaib made unbeaten 52 runs off 29 balls with seven boundaries and one six Mohsin Khan scored 25 runs and thus DCO High School won the match by three wickets.
For AIM High School Mujeeb took three wickets for 28 runs in his four overs spell, Shoukat got two wickets and Anees and Waqar got one wicket each. Ejaz Ahmed and Ayuz Khan supervised the match while Javedullah acted as official scorer.
At the end, Barawar Khan, DO Secondary, Dir Upper, was the chief guest on this occasion and gave away trophies and certificates to the winners and runners-up school. Khan appreciated both the finalist school’s management for given due opportunities to the kids for the participation in the curricular and extra-curricular activities.
He paid tribute to PCB for involving school kids in healthy sports activities. The services of the office-bearers of the District Dir Cricket Association were also lauded for holding the tournament in befitting manners. President and Secretary District Dir Upper Cricket Association Sahibzada Waliullah, and Mukhtiar Hussain, Fazal Bagi, ADO, Physical District Dir, were also present.
