Capital to have new drug rules in from 2008

ISLAMABAD—Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Quality Control Board has approved the much awaited proposal of draft of the ICT Drug Rules, 2007 along withproposed regulations of the board.
Both drafts will be notified shortly and the federalcapital will have the new drug rules with the advent of new year, the spokesman of District administration told on Thursday.
He said the decision to this effect was made in the 21st meeting of ICT Quality Control Board held under the chairmanship of the Chief Commissioner Islamabad HamidAli Khan.
The spokesman said the board also took up five casespertaining to the violations of Drug Act 1976 and directed the Drug Inspector Sardar Shabbir Ahmed toprosecute the two firms involved in the sale of sub-standard drugs in the court along with other cases of violations of Drug Act. The board expressed satisfaction over the situationof quality control of the drugs in the area.
