BEIJING—China supported its enterprises to cooperate with the United States counterparts in the fields of engines and assemblies on-board airplanes based on mutual benefit, said Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan on Thursday.
Zeng welcomed the United Technologies Corporation (UTC) to participate in China’s aviation development during a meeting with George David, chairman and chief executive officer of the UTC which provides high-technology products and supports services to customers in the aerospace.
Zeng said China’s aviation industry had made remarkable progress, and the research and production of the regional airplanes had developed further and now China had been working on the trunk airplanes. He also said China was a big coal consumer and would have a great potential to increase the efficiency of coal utilization in electricity generation.
He hoped the UTC and the Chinese enterprises would cooperate in the areas including the high efficiency cleaning combustion technology to push forward the energy sustainable development of China and the world. Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) held a conference here on Wednesday to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the United States.
Xu Kuangdi, vice-chairman of National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, hailed in his speech the remarkable achievements scored in the China-U.S. relations over the past 28 years. The two nations have held clearer strategic position of each other, with richer strategic content of bilateral relations and rapid development of exchange and cooperation at the current stage, said Xu, who is also the chairman of China-U.S. People’s Friendship Association. Xu said the development of the China-U.S. constructive and cooperative relations have brought substantial benefits for the two peoples, and boost the peace, stability and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large. He noted that the two nations should further enhance dialogue and exchange, so as to boost strategic mutual trust.
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said in his address to the conference that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States during his administration had significant influence over the two countries, Asia and the world at large. He reiterated that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an integral part of China. He hopes that the U.S. government both now and in the future will continue to adhere to the policy.
Cater said he would continue his effort to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples and make contributions to the development of bilateral ties. Vice president of the CPAFFC Li Xiaolin, U.S. Ambassador to China Clark Randt, together with some 100 scholars, officials and university students attended the conference.
