decreased in Rawalpindi region

RAWALPINDI—An overall decrease of 13 cases has been witnessed in the
Region-III, Rawalpindi under the head ‘Murder’ during the year as
compared to year 2006.
A criminal meeting was held at Regional Headquarters, Rawalpindi chaired
by Mr. Nasir Khan Durrani, DIG, Region-III, Rawalpindi. All the DPOs i.e,
Jhelum, Chakwal and Attock participated. The crime state in the Region
for the year, 2007 was reviewed. There was an overall decrease of 13
cases in the Region under the head ‘Murder’ during the year as compared
to year, 2006. 173 cases of murder were registered in the region, out of
which 79 pertained to Attock, 50 in Chakwal and 44 in Jhelum. However,
there was a marginal increase in Attempt to Murder, Hurt and Fatal
Accidents.
In offences against property covering Dacoity, Robbery, Burglary and
theft, there was decrease of 89 cases during the year 2007 as compared
to the corresponding period of year, 2006. 754 cases relating to
property were registered in the Region as compared to 843 cases in year,
2006. In white collar crime which include dishonor of cheques, fraud
etc. there was an increase of 195 cases during the period under review.
In proactive policing covering recovery of illicit arms, narcotics
police showed better results as compared to previous year showing and
increase of 400 cases in the Region.
The clearance ratio of the cases was remarkably good. Under the head
‘Murder’ the sent up ratio was 80% in Jhelum and Attock while 74% in
Chakwal. In dacoity district Jhelum worked out 100% cases while in
Robbery it was 70%. In Attock the clearance ratio in dacoity was 91%
while in robbery it was 68%. In Chakwal, police worked out 69% cases of
robbery. During the month of November, 2007 district Jhelum smashed 8
gangs of dacoits while 2 gangs were smashed by district Attock. |
