HEC-AIOU to hold conference on Sufi Poets

ISLAMABAD—Allama Iqbal Open University and Higher Education Commission would jointly organize a two-day national conference on `Sufi Poets of Pakistani Languages’ here from December 8.
Scholars and intellectuals from all the four provinces wouldread out research papers on the great works and poetry of Sufi poets: Baba Farid, Khaja Farid, Sultan Bahu, Bullah Shah, MianMuhammad Bakhsh, Rehman Baba, Ammer Hamza Shinwari, Shah Abdul LatifBhitai, Sachal Sarmast, Mat Tawakkali, Taj Muhammad Tajal, Noor ud Din Rishi, Allama Naseer ud Din Hunzai and Khaja Mir Dard. Minister for Inter-provincial Co-ordination Dr. Muhammad AmjadWill be the chief guest and AIOU’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mehmoodul Hassan Butt would chair the inaugural session. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs AfzalHaider would preside over the second session on the same day. Prominent educationists and intellectuals including Prof.Parishan Khattak, Ifitkhar Arif, Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik and Chairman Department of Pakistani Languages AIOU Dr. Inam ul Haq Javed would address the conference.—APP
