ISLAMABAD—The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) will celebrate its “Twenty-Second Charter Day” here on Saturday, December 8. The Day will be celebrated under SAARC Human Resource Development Center (SHRDC) and SAARC Energy Center (SEC) with an aim to raise the level of awareness about the association and its activities. Secretary Planning and Development Division, Ghiasuddin Ahmed would be the Chief Guest on the occasion, said SHRDC press release here on Wednesday. Top officials of High Commissions and Embassies of SAARC member countries and its observers, donor agencies, NGO’s and officials from miniseries are scheduled to participate in the celebrations, it added. It may be recalled that the association had adopted the SAARC charter for holding out the promise of a new era of understanding and cooperation among the member countries to promote living standard of their people.
