NVM endeavours to achieve record registration of volunteers

ISLAMABAD—National Volunteer Movement (NVM) was endeavouring to register
more and more volunteers in country aiming to extend prompt relief
workin case of any future emergency and natural disaster.
This was stated by Sheikh Zia-ul-Haq, DirectorGeneral NVM, on the behalf
of Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, Deputy Chairman National Volunteer
Movement in aseminar held to commemorate the ‘International Day for
Volunteers’ here today.
The seminar was organized by the officials ofNational Volunteer Movement
(NVM) in collaboration with other NGOs volunteers. Director General NVM
said that the number ofregistered volunteers in our country is more than
anyother country according to the International Seminar held in Germany.
NVM has already initiated the registration campaignwith the aim to
register more and more volunteers. While the existing registered
volunteers, he said, are mobilized in social work, community development
projects and disaster emergency management. NationalDisaster Management
Authority has also recognized therole of NVM volunteers in these
activities, he added. Zia-ul-Haq told that the special training
programmeswould be initiated for enabling the volunteers atdistrict and
tehsil level to cope with any emergency situation and disaster. He said
that the training would be provided bydisaster management experts from
foreign countries with the objective of preparing professional teams.
The volunteers would be provided ample facilities toperform their duties
through best of their capabilities,he added. |
