CDA executes record Rs4.2b projects

ISLAMABAD—The Capital Development Authority (CDA) executed 16 development as well as recreational projects costing Rs.4.2 billion during the year 2007, what the official said is the highest ever achievement of the Authority.
The focal point of CDA’s development budget during the year 2007 remained development of road infrastructure following the dramatic increase in the number of vehicles plying on roads in federal capital during last couple of years. The projects executed during the year 2007 comprise dualization of roads and avenues, rehabilitation of existing roads, construction of new underpasses and avenues and development of recreational points. The CDA constructed two underpasses on 7th Avenue-Jinnah Avenue intersection, Nazimuddin and Fazl-e Haq Road, and on Khushal Khan Road. The two underpasses incurred the cost of Rs453.969million and Rs. 406.529 million respectively.
Authority, one of the bulkiest development bodies in the country, announced the development budget of Rs25billion for the fiscal year 2007 and more or less 70 percent of its share was allocated for the development and renovation of roads. Widening of Murree Road from Faizabad to Serena Hotel incurred Rs336.672 million. Dualization of Ibn-e-Sina Road stretched between sectors G-9 to G-11, Nazimuddin Road, Service Road, Constitution Avenue and 3rd Avenue incurred the cost of Rs.108m, Rs.101.902m, Rs.75.599m, and Rs.44.465m respectively. Construction of new roads, underpasses and intersections is also underway against the cost of Rs.2158.283 million, expected to be completed by the year end.
The development of tourist points and recreational facilities also remained centre of attention for the Authority during the ongoing year. CDA developed Rawal Lake Park against the cost of Rs.357.44m and first phase of Fatima Jinnah Park for Rs.310 million. Cultural Complex at Shakarparian, Multipurpose Ground at sector F-6, weekly bazaars in sectors G-6 and G-9 and Citizen Complaint Centers were also among the projects costing Rs 1300 million, Rs 40 million , Rs 115 million, Rs 204 million and Rs 141.744 million respectively.
