PM says focus on upcoming elections: Soomro

ISLAMABAD—Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro said Monday the attention of the caretaker government would remain focused on the upcoming elections toensure that the people are facilitated to exercise their right ofvote.
Establishment of conducive atmosphere during the interimperiod is an essential support to the Election Commission for holding fair, free and transparent elections, the Prime Ministeradded.
He was talking to Minister for Law and ParliamentaryAffairs, Syed Afzal Haider, who called on him here at the PrimeMinister House this afternoon.
The Prime Minister stressed for closer coordination amongall the government organizations and the provincial governments for proper management of political activities as well as law and order. The code of conduct issued by the Election Commission, hesaid, would serve as a guide both for the administration and the political parties to ensure discipline and security. The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of the LawMinister for preparing a report to improve coordination between the federal and provincial governments to create conduciveatmosphere for the upcoming elections.
Earlier Syed Afzal Haider presented his report for improvingcoordination between the federal and provincial governments for the creation of conducive atmosphere for the upcoming generalelections.
The Law Minister was assigned this responsibility by the Cabinet in its last meeting.
The code of conduct issued by the Election Commission andthe security code circulated by the Ministry of Interior, the Law Minister mentioned, are quite comprehensive and would serve thecause of facilitating the people to cast their votes in a peaceful manner.
Increased dissemination and coordination of the Code ofConduct would further help the administration and the voters in exercising their responsibilities, he added.
