43 schemes worth Rs1318.007m approved

ISLAMABAD—Islamabad Development Working Party (IDWP) has approved 43 new development schemes relating to construction of new rural roads, repairing and up-grading existing roads, street pavements and water supply schemes with an estimated cost of Rs. 1318.007 million.
The formal approval was given in a meeting of IDWP presided by the Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Hamid Ali Khan.
The IDWP cleared these 43 new development schemes to be launched under Public Sector Development Programme and Islamabad Development Package for the uplift of rural areas of Islamabad.
Estimated cost of new development schemes to be launched under Islamabad Development Package amounts Rs. 638.392 million and the estimated cost of other new schemes to be launched under PSDP amounts Rs. 679.615 million.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad has directed all concerned to speed up the pace of work on all the on-going development schemes in the rural areas of Islamabad and complete them within stipulated time.
He directed that all the new development schemes to belaunched for the uplift of rural areas of Islamabad should be transparent, viable and should be prepared according to the requirement of rural population.
Chief Commissioner directed that new schemes should beinnovative and focused on poverty alleviation in rural areas.
The meeting also considered and approved some on-going development schemes revised under PSDP and IDP.
It also considered and approved six new on-going schemesrevised under PSDP which include rehabilitation/up-gradation of more
than 10 kilometers road in Bhara Kahu, Phulgran, Shah Allah Dita, street pavement in the villages of Koral, Nilore, Tarlai, Tumair, Jandala and Sihala and also improvement of 14 kilometers rural roads in Sihala. The estimated cost of these schemes is Rs. 233.385 million.
The meeting also approved construction of Basic Health Unitand staff accommodation at Golra Sharif.
However, the Chief Commissioner directed health department ICT to get the requisite land transferred in favor of the department and elaborate designing of the project to be furnished in the nextmeeting.
The meeting also considered and approved three on-goingrevised schemes under Islamabad Development Package which include
street pavement in six villages of Chirah, eight villages of Union Council Kurri and seven villages of Kirpa with an estimated cost of
Rs. 118.226 million.
The meeting was informed that construction of Basic Health Unit with staff accommodation at Tarnol is expected to be completed in December.
The Chief Commissioner directed health department to purchaseadditional four Kanal of land for expansion of the health unit keepingin view all future requirement of the population and giving the unit a status of Tehsil headquarters Hospital with modern facilities.
The estimated cost of this project is Rs. 38.015 million.
The meeting also approved construction of horse stable and 100 men barrack for horse stable staff in H-11 through an estimated cost of Rs. 30.991 million.
The scheme regarding mapping of villages of ICT for physical planning and infrastructure purpose was deferred.
