By Adnan Rafique
ISLAMABAD—The Spokesman of the Ministry of Housing and Works has
clarified a news item appeared in a section of Press saying that the
development work in sector G-14 is in doldrums due to lack of
coordination among the government departments.
The Spokesman said the contents carried in the news item are not based
on facts and it is also not correct that land acquisition and subsequent
issuance of letters has not been resolved.
He clarified that the Prime Minister has constituted a committee under
the chairmanship of Cabinet Secretary for acquisition of land in sector
G-14/1,2 and 3 and G-15/3 that has already held two meetings to expedite
the progress in this regard. “Sub-sectors of G-14/1,2 and 3 were
allocated by then Prime Minister to the Housing Foundation. Notification
under sections 4 and 17(4) (6) of the Land Acquisition Act stand issued
and the Land Acquisition collector has announced the award falling in
the area for Rs. 2,840 million,” he said. The Spokesman made it clear
that the more than half of the allottees have not paid their dues
despite issuance of letters and notices to them.
He said, “A sum of more than Rs. 4 billion is required to take
possession of land whereas only Rs. 2.5 billion have been deposited by
the allottees so far. However, a joint survey for built up property is
also being carried out shortly.” He further said that the Housing
Foundation and CDA are jointly working to revise the plan, with a view
to accommodating maximum number of allottees. “Computer balloting to
allocate plot numbers will be held shortly. The Foundation has requested
allottees to clear outstanding amounts without further delay so that
acquisition of land could be completed and steps toward development
works physically be initiated,” he said. |
