Emergency to be lifted on Dec 16: President

ISLAMABAD—President Pervez Musharraf Thursday announced that emergency and the Provisional Constitution Order would be lifted from the country on Dec 16, while the Jan 8 election would be held under the Constitution. “I have full resolve to lift the emergency and withdraw the PCO on Dec 16,” he said in a televised address to the nation after taking the oath of office for a second five-year term....

Lahore—The All-Pakistan Democratic Movement, an alliance of several opposition parties, late Thursday decided to boycott the Jan 8 general elections – president Musharraf’s announcement to lift emergency and the Provisional Constitution Order notwithstanding. The announcement was made by Nawaz Sharif, chief of his Pakistan Muslim League party and head of the APDM, private tv channels reported....

ISLAMABAD—Security Forces along the Pak-Afghan border have arrested five foreign terrorists while entering Pakistan from Afghanistan through Qamaruddin Tehsil of Zhob district. According to sources, while riding on the motorcycles, terrorists were trying to enter Pakistan in the cover of darkness.
