RBA asks lawyers to pullout from elections

RAWALPINDI—Rawalpindi Bar Association has demanded all lawyers including President Supreme Court Bar Association Aitzaz Ahsan to withdraw their nomination papers and not to contest elections due in January otherwise they will be held accountable.
The office bearers of Rawalpindi Bar Association and large number of lawyers stated this while expressing their views during renowned talk show “Capital Talk” on Private TV Channel.
The Programme was held in the premises of District Bar Association on Wednesday attended by President Rawalpindi Bar Sardar Asmat Ullah Khan, Former President Akram Sheikh, columnist Iran Siddiqui, Defence for Human Rights Amina Masood Janjua and President Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalist Afzal Butt.
Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin who was unanimous candidates of lawyer fraternity for the Presidential elections also spoke on the occasion through telephone. Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin supported the decision of Rawalpindi Bar Association by saying that the lawyers should boycott the elections. The lawyer fraternity attending the programme raised the slogans in favor of the boycotting of the elections. The host of the Programme, Hamid Mir said that you are raising the slogans of the boycotting of the elections but your leader Aitzaz Ahsan has submitted his nomination papers.The lawyers after comments from Hamid Mir have demanded of Aitzaz Ahsan to withdraw his nomination papers.
