FBISE to honour students, teachers, institutions

ISLAMABAD—The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Wednesday honoured with awards 22 students, 19 teachers and four heads of institutions for showing best performance during this year.
Secretary Education Jehangir Bashar gave away awards at an impressive ceremony held here in honour of these recipients.
A total of six students were awarded medals including two Gold, two Silver and two Bronze in recognition of their outstanding performance at Secondary School Certificate(SSC) examination.
Similarly, at Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) level, in total 16 students were awarded with 5 Gold, 5 Silver and 6 Bronzemedals.
In addition these medals, a cash prize of Rs 40,000 was given to each Gold Medalist, Rs 30,000 to Silver Medalist and to 20,000 to Bronze Medalist along with a merit certificate.
While for securing top position overall at SSC and HSSC level examination 2007, Fatima Ayaz of Army Public School of Westridge-III, Rawalpindi and Muhammad Talha Malik F.G. Sir Syed College, The Mall, Rawalpindi were given a Personal Computer each besides gold medal, cash prize and merit certificate.
The Board also awarded 19 best teachers each with cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with certificate of excellence in recognition of their services in teaching for the current year.
Pakistan Education Academy, Dubai; Garrison Academy for Girls, Lahore; International School and College of Pakistan, Kuwait, and Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalalzar, Rawalpindi were adjudged the best institutions in Pakistan and abroad for the year 2007 and were awarded trophies and cash prize of Rs 40,000 each.
Later, Secretary Eduction Jehangir Bashar appreciating the recipients, he said such incentives would help encourage them to work more hard in their respective fields.
He also highlighted the measures taken by the government for ensuring quality education in the country in order to catch up with developed countries in terms of socio-economic development.
In a welcome address, chairman of the board, Commodore (Retd) Muhammad Shamshad gave a brief overview of the Board’s efforts for ensuring quality education in the country.
He also congratulated the institutions, teachers and students on wining awards, saying this would give impetus to their performance.
