Qualifiers completed in National Clay Court Tennis

ISLAMABAD—The qualifiers of Subh-e-Nau National Clay Court Tennis Championship were completed at Islamabad Club courts on Monday with over 10 foreign players also registering for some of the eight categories in the main round which will get underway on Tuesday.
Ms Jacquie Collins, wife of the Canadian High Commissioner, inaugurated the championship. Mahvish Chishtie, the tournament director, briefed the chief guest about the tournament and about NGO Subh-e-Nau.
Shahida Kauser Farooq, chairperson Subh-e-Nau, presented memento to Ms. Jacquie Collins. Mrs. Farooq told the media that some Thai, Canadian and English players have also given their entries. She said that an unexpected good response has made this event an international gala.
In men’s singles category, eight players qualified for the main round which will feature national-seeded players like Aqeel Khan and Jalil Khan. In boys U-17 category also, eight players qualified for the next round of the championship which will conclude on December 2.
Besides Aqeel Khan and Jalil Khan in men’s singles category, the main round also consists of Sara Mansoor, Natasha and Qurat-ul-Ain in Ladies singles.
The following were the results of Men’s qualifying final round:— Yasin Abbasi beat M.Abid 6-1, Hammad Mujtaba beat Salman Khan 6-4, Irfanullah beat Jibran-ul-Haq 7-5, Ali Abdullah beat Malik Abdul Rehman 6-2, Saeedul Haq beat Usman Rafique-6-2, Fahad Ali beat Hamza Patodi 6-1, Jahnazeb Khan beat Saad Mubarik Ali 6-0, M.Waqs Malik beat Wakeel Khan 6-3,
Boys U-17 qulaifying (final round) Asif Ahmed Beat Sheheryar Niazi 6-3, Saad Bin Rehan beat Wasil Kaleem 6-3, Umair Waheed beat Tabish Raza 6-4, Kashan ul Haq beat Salman Shahid 7-6(3), Shayan Ahmed beat Salman Khalil 6-3, M.Abdullah Nameer Shamsi beat Hassan Masood 6-4, Usman Rafique Walkover Asjad Aitezaz.
