Minister directs to intensify pace of work on housing projects

ISLAMABAD—The caretaker Minister for Housing and Works Nisar Muhammad Khan on Monday urged officials of the ministry to intensify the pace of construction work on the ongoing projects to provide relief to government employees in getting their on houses.
Attending a briefing in the ministry, he directed the officials to avoid file work and concentrate on coordination with each other for improvement in the existing system of the ministry, its attached departments and autonomous bodies.
He said top priority of the government was to provide shelter to the poor segments of the society, adding that resolving the housing and allotment problems of the low paid employees would be his priority.
The Minister said he was determined to streamline the Estate OfficeDepartment and added there would be no out of turn allotments of government houses.
Nisar Muhammad Khan said a system developed to start a one window operation in the Estate office so that problems of all oncerned,particularly lower grade employees are resolved under one window and they do not run from pillar to post for allotment of government houses.
The Minister also directed the officials to initiate construction of commercial plazas and residential flats for government employees on priority in other cities of the country.
Secretary Ministry of Housing and Works Abdul Rauf Chaudhry briefed the minister on the working of the ministry and on the ongoing and future projects.
Senior officers of the ministry, heads of all attached departments and autonomous bodies were present on the occasion.
