Memon for media plan to provide updates of election results

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for information and Broadcasting Nisar A. Memon has said the objective of the caretaker government is to facilitate free, fair and transparent elections and the Ministry of Information has a prime responsibility in this context.
These views were expressed by the Minister during his visit to Press Information Department here Monday.
The Minister directed the Press Information Department to chalk out a comprehensive media plan to facilitate the media to provide moment-to-moment updates of the election results.
The Press Information Department on the directions of the Minister has developed a comprehensive strategy for this purpose which includes the opening of the State-of-the-Art Media Centre equipped with all necessary communication tools, the dispatch of Media teams throughout the country to witness and report the process of the polling on the election day and printing of a media guide for use by media personal and general public on various numerical and other aspects of the election.
The Minister, who was briefed about the operational problems of the department, appreciated the role the Press Information Department it has been playing over the years for establishing close government-media relations, keeping the public informed of government’s activities through media and providing credible feed back to the government in order to undertake various development and welfare projects.
The Secretary Information and Broadcasting Syed Anwar Mahmood, Principal Information Officer Rashid Ahmad, Director General Internal Publicity Wing Syed Fayyaz Hussain Shah and other senior officials of the Press Information Department were also present.
