1800 PML-N activists detained
 
ISLAMABAD—Police detained upto 1800 supporters of Quaid Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ahead of his return to homeland on Sunday.
Talking to foreign news agency, Spokesman PML-N Ahsan Iqbal said , in a crackdown that began late Saturday some 1,800 activists of party were detained in the eastern Punjab.
There was no official confirmation of the arrests. Pervez Malik leader PML-N told a private TV Channel that the Police have detained 30 Party workers from Shad Man Colony and Lahore city during the crackdown. In Gujranwala, Police raided houses of party leaders and arrested more than 75 workers.
In Gujrat, Police on Sunday morning raided house of Former Provincial Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz and Ex-Member National Assembly Khurshid Zaman however they were managed to escape and reached Lahore to accord welcome to Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
The caravan coming from Pindi district was stopped by Police at Kaswal G.T road. Meanwhile, City Police was on high alert with the deployment of 6000 Policemen inside or outside of the Airport on the occasion of Nawaz Sharif’s return. Police closed all the ways leading to Airport. Police were also deputed outside of the residence of Sharif’s brother in Model town.—Online
