Sharifs’ return outcome of NRO

KARACHI—PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto has said Nawaz Sharif return to
Pakistan is a good omen as political process will improve after his
homecoming adding Nawaz Sharif return is outcome of National
Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). She was talking to the journalists here
Sunday after filing her nomination papers in the provincial office of
election commission in Karachi on two reserved seats of women.
She held seat to seat adjustment could be evolved with all political
parties including PML-N. There is no need to work out such arrangement
with MQM as it has always been winning the election, she added.
She went on to say PPP did not intend to boycott the general elections
adding “ I however hope elections will be held in fair and transparent
manner. PPP is going to contest general election with full fledged
preparations, she added.
To a question she said APDM has not made announcement to boycott the
general elections so far and talks were underway still on this count.
“We have to see now what steps APDM takes now. Future strategy will be
evolved if APDM tries to hold talks with PPP in this regard, she added.
Earlier Benazir Bhutto filed her nomination papers in the office of
provincial election commission for reserved seats of women. PPP workers
assembled outside the election commission office since the morning. PPP
leaders and workers welcomed Benazir Bhutto as she arrived Karachi
airport lounge. Stringent security measures were taken and a heavy
contingent of police was deployed there.
The journalists were not allowed to meet Benazir Bhutto. She came out of
domestic departure and left for Bilawal house forthwith. She regretted
on not allowing the journalists by the airport security force to talk to
her.
Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party
Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto has expressed concern over the ill health of
Munir Malik former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and
demanded his, Aitzaz’s and other lawyers’ release from captivity.
