Aziz forswears election

ISLAMABAD—Former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz ON Saturday said that he would not contest the elections. Talking to newsmen along with Pakistan Muslim League (Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain here, Shaukat Aziz said he had not applied for the party ticket.
He denied the rumors that he is leaving the country. He also denied the speculations that PML (Q) had refused to award him party ticket. He said the party had offered him to contest elections from three constituencies. The former prime minister said Chaudhry Shujaat has been his benefactor and he want to serve the nation some other way.
Former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has refused to participate in the upcoming general elections and announced to run election campaign of Pakistan Muslim League-Q. Addressing a Press Conference here in PML House Saturday along with President of the party, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain and Secretary General Mushahid Hussain, the former Prime Minister said that he is not going outside of the country and would continue to serve the people with the same passion. Shaukat Aziz said that he met with President Pervez Musharraf who praised his performance, adding that he served on the post of PM with dignity. A new chapter of the politics has been emerged in the country, he added. Expressing his views regarding upcoming general elections, the former Prime Minister said that the more political parties to be participated in the elections, more the political system would be enhanced.
Praising the attitude of Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, the former Prime Minister said that he (Shujaat) provided all guidance to him and the brotherly relations with him would remain. Chaudhary Shujaat on the occasion said that former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was offered to contest in the elections from the constituencies of NA 210 (Kashmor) and NA 58 and 59 (Attock) but he (Shaukat) himself not participating in the elections.
The President PML-Q said that Shaukat Aziz is the member of Parliamentary Board and he can contest in the election from any constituency, adding that the news appearing in the media creating wrong impression. He said that from NA-58 ticket was awarded to Malik Allah Yar Khan. Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain while talking to media men said that Nawaz Sharif is returning to the country under a new deal and any alliance with Sharif Brothers would be made keeping in view their behavior.
