Commuters welcome installation of traffic signal

RAWALPINDI—Late but never, the cantonment authorities realised the urgency of installing a traffic signal at Kutchery Chowk (Humanyun-Tufail road) after a number of accidents increased at the crossing.
The commuters of the area expressing their gratitude for fullfiling their long-standing demand have urged the authorities to fill the 3-4 potholes near the school of Signals which ahave resulted in head on collissions as motorists try to avoid the broken road to protect their vehicles. The MES was called upon to repair the leaking pipeline on the road which was not only a waste of potable water but also damaging it.
Meanwhile the residents of Gulistan, Morgah and adjacent areas have demanded of NHA to repair the crater on Jhelum Road near Kutchery bus stop which is creating problems for the smooth flow of traffic on the overloaded road and has caused a number of accidents. While the people keenly await the start of flyover or underpass at Kutchery Chowk in the meantime cantonment authorities alongwith RDA are trying to workout a new traffic flow system for the convenience of road users.
Meanwhile the citizens have demanded of the police highups to stop switching off traffic signals in the city which is creating "nightmare" at the crossings due to ever increasing number of vehicles. "What is the wisdom of turning off the signals when allover the world they are suppose to give equal right of travelling to every commuter," said Raziq Ali a resident of the city.
The residents of Rah-e-Aman and Adiala have also called upon the Cantonment authorities to link the drains at tailend of Humanyun road with the drainage system along the dualised Adiala road costing millions to check overflowing.
