Over 100 APDM workers arrested

KARACHI—Police have arrested over 100 political workers including women of component parties of All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) for holding protest rally in Empress market here Friday.
The protest demonstration was staged against the imposition of emergency rule on APDM call.
A heavy contingent of police was deployed to prevent demonstrators from holding rally. Police had also blocked inner road to Empress market. Despite closure of the road people in large number of political workers reached Empress market to participate in the demonstration. The protesters chanted slogans “Go Musharraf go. Lathi goli kee sarkar naheen challey gee, restore the constitution; set free the judiciary, general curnal kee sarkar naheen challey gee. All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) on Friday demanded a meeting of All Parties Conference to set up a caretaker government for undiluted democracy in the country.
A protest in this regard was held in Aabpara against imposition of emergency, curbs on media and sacking of judges. Vice President PLM-N Zafar Ali Shah, Mian Muhammad Aslam of MMA, Dr Tariq Chaudhry, Anjam Aqeel, Mina Ramzan, Mushahudullah and Syed Bilal addressed the protesters. They said that General Musharraf was a big danger against the federation and integration of the country. They said that free and fair election could not be held until and unless ending of military role from the politics.
