Aitizaz, other detainees to be released soon: Hamid

ISLAMABAD—Care taker interior minister Lt Gen (Retd) Hamid Nawaz Khan has claimed that all the judges including former chief justice of supreme court Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry are not under any detention and they can go freely every where.
Care taker interior minister said this while talking to newsmen here Friday. He told no judge was detained now. All the judges including former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry are free to go any where, he held. He indicated over 5000 detained political workers and lawyers had been set free by the care taker government ever since it had assumed responsibilities. All other detainees including Aitzaz Ahsan would soon be released, he announced.
About situation in Swat he said situation had worsened there and security forces had to take action there. Army is now playing leading role there, he pointed out. The security forces would soon launch a major operation and destroy the hideouts of miscreants who were creating problems for the country. Peace will prevail in Swat by the middle of next month and general elections will be held there, he informed. " We have solid evidence foreign hand is involved in creating disorder in Swat. It will soon be exposed, he declared.
Referring to general election he said it is our top priority general elections are held in fair and transparent manner. " We will extend full support to election commission on this count", he added. There will be bar on display of arms and holding of rallies and processions during election campaign, he said adding whosoever violates it will be proceeded against sternly.
He underscored objectives of proclamation of emergency rule were being achieved and war on terror was being moved forward.
