ISLAMABAD—Supreme Court (SC) has validated imposition of emergency rule and Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) by rejecting all the constitutional petitions filed against them. A 7-member bench of SC headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Abdul Hameed Dogar heard the constitutional petitions filed by Iqbal Tikka Khan and Barrister Zafar Ullah challenging the promulgation of emergency ....

Islamabad hits back as CW defends suspension

KAMPALA—The Commonwealth defended its decision to suspend Pakistan on Friday as leaders from 53-nation grouping opened a summit in Uganda and shifted the focus to climate change and other issues. Islamabad reacted angrily to Thursday’s suspension, describing the decision as “unreasonable and unjustified” and threatened to pull out from the loose federation of mostly former British colonies....

14 killed as blasts rock Indian cities

LUCKNOW—Nearly simultaneous explosions from homemade bombs planted outside courts in three northern Indian cities killed at least 13 people in what a senior government official said were terrorist strikes.  Officials said 59 people were wounded in the blasts at Varanasi, Faizabad and Lucknow, all in Uttar Pradesh. Many of the dead were lawyers. At least nine people were killed in Varanasi ....
