Blast hits CD shops in Mardan

MARDAN—Upto 10 Video centres were destroyed completely on Thursday when a bomb planted close to CD markets at PRC Chowk situated in sensitive Cannt area of Mardan went off but no casualties were reported.
Official sources told that some unknown persons had planted improvised explosive device in CD markets at PRC Chowk in Mardan, which exploded with a big bang at 5:50 am, destroying 10 shops completely, besides damaging a electricity transformer and windowpane of nearby Bank. The police rushed to the site soon after the blast and cordoned off the area. The people living in Cantt area said they heard a voice of blast when they were busy in preparation of Fajar prayer. Some shops that were destroyed in the blast included Movie Club, Sank Video, Ghazal Video, Star Video, AADVD Gift and DVD of Bet Video Shop. It was the most sensitive and protected area of Mardan. Earlier, the CD owners of video shops received a threat notices directing them to close their illegal business otherwise get ready for consequences.
